Sarah Johnson is an educational entrepreneur, novice farmer, and mother to two DPS children. She believes that education can be the path to ending institutional racism and poverty in the United States. Sarah would like to see every child have the opportunity for high-quality early childhood education, access to healthy, locally grown foods, and safe schools that foster independent learning.

Sarah started her career as an El Pomar Foundation fellow. With a desire to create change in the educational system, she joined the Inner-City Teaching Corps in Chicago. Sarah has spent the last 13 years teaching children ranging from toddler to middle school. Most recently she worked to receive her Montessori accreditation and opened Denver’s flagship Wildflower school. Sarah now serves as Treasurer of the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies board.

Sarah has a B.A. in Sociology from DePauw University and a Master’s in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University. She enjoys traveling the world with her family, spending time in nature, and growing vegetables for her neighborhood.
