Amy Anderson

Senior Director

Amy is the Director of ReSchool Colorado, a multi-year initiative launched in 2013 to create an entirely new statewide education system. Prior to serving in this role, Amy led the Division of Innovation, Choice, and Engagement at the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) as Associate Commissioner, and was a founder of The Odyssey School. She serves on the boards for The Stapleton Foundation and the International Association of K12 Online Learning (iNACOL). Amy holds a Ph.D. and M.Ed. from the University of Colorado and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. Her work has focused on blended, personalized, and online learning, expanded choice for kids and families, and systems-level policy change. She is deeply committed to inspiring people to embrace the possibilities and to question existing paradigms of what education has been, is, and needs to be.

As the Director of ReSchool Colorado‘s team, Amy is responsible for leading the discovery-driven process that results in the vision, design and strategy. Although she has a broad array of expertise, Amy has focused much of her time re-imagining the policy and systems drivers required in a new system, such as governance and finance. Amy recognized early on that discovery-driven planning is a more effective way to manage highly innovative ventures in uncharted territory. She continues to take a broad view of the landscape, including many industries beyond education, and engages others in unearthing unconventional solutions.
