School Finance Partnership Meeting Schedule

After Tony Lewis’ commentary in the Sunday Post, I’ve gotten some questions about the School Finance Partnership and when it holds meetings. The group itself is convened by the Colorado Children’s Campaign, and meetings take place at CEA’s offices in downtown Denver. Donnell-Kay’s a partnership member, like many other groups*. We think the conversation around the school finance mechanism — ie, how money gets distributed from the state to schools to students –  is an important one.

Here’s the upcoming schedule:

Sept. 13, 10:00-4:00, Partnership meeting

Oct. 11, 10:00-4:00, Partnership meeting

Nov. 8, 10:00-4:00, Partnership meeting

Dec. 13, 10:00-4:00, Partnership meeting

Meetings may continue past December.

* The School Finance Partnership is a coalition of business and education groups, as well as elected officials, looking at examining the way the state funds education. The Partnership is convened by the Colorado Children’s Campaign and its members include the following organizations:  Colorado Association of School Boards, Colorado Association of School Executives, Colorado Concern, Colorado Education Association, Colorado Forum, Colorado Legacy Foundation, Colorado Succeeds, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Donnell-Kay Foundation, Great Futures Colorado and elected officials among others. Its co-chairs are Chris Watney, President and CEO of the Children’s Campaign, Cary Kennedy, former State Treasurer and Bob Deibel, President and Owner of OfficeScapes.  The project’s staff director is Mary Wickersham.
